Nine months and ten days later, Miaomiao gave birth to an adorable baby girl. They named her Song Xiaoran, meaning “natural sweetness,” a reminder of the sweet love that had blossomed between them.

Song Yichen, the man once famous among his whole company for being cold and stern, became an incredibly gentle father, ready to drop any important meeting just to get home in time to bathe his daughter, or to patiently sing lullabies for hours whenever little Xiaoran fussed in the middle of the night.

After her maternity leave, Miaomiao went back to design work with more inspiration than ever. Many of her later designs drew on the warm moments of her own little family, and they were highly praised by her colleagues and even by her old boss, the very one who had once criticized her. Little by little, she earned a solid place in her field.

One peaceful weekend evening, the little family gathered in the living room. Baby Xiaoran slept soundly in her crib, and Miaomiao rested her head on her husband’s shoulder, flipping through the family photo album, which had grown by who knew how many pages since their wedding.

“You know,” Miaomiao said softly, her voice full of contentment, “when we first got married, I thought I was just pouting so my husband would spoil me. But looking back now, I realize those moments when I got to pout were the moments I felt your love and protection most clearly.”

Yichen wrapped his arms tightly around his wife and daughter, kissed Miaomiao gently on the forehead, and said in a deep, warm voice full of happiness, “Then from now on, keep pouting at me. Pout for the rest of your life if you want. That’s what makes me happiest of all.”

Outside the window, the city lights twinkled in the night, shining on a small home filled with laughter and love, where a wife who loved to pout and a husband always ready to spoil her kept writing their own simple but complete story of happiness.
