Our Long Stories: Where to Start

Unlike our short stories, which are published in a single part, our long stories are split into named chapters with a table of contents so you can follow along.

If you love solving cases, pick The Secret of the Ancient Tower. If you’re into the occult and ancient gu sorcery, read Bloodline of the Gu King. And if you like palace intrigue and a heroine who climbs to the top of the power ladder, Daylily in the Snow is the one for you.

English translations of these stories are on the way. Until then, the links below take you to the Vietnamese originals.

    1. The Secret of the Ancient Tower

    Genre: Mystery, Contemporary

Tô Vân Ninh’s mentor is murdered, the Quantum Resonance Core vanishes, and the crime scene holds clues pointing to her missing father. Vân Ninh has to uncover the truth before it is buried once again.

What makes it compelling: the story moves across real places like Fort Sereno and Monte Mario, blending science with a secret society called the Ancient Tower Society. The chapter titles pull you in, with names like “A Death Written in Advance,” “The Nameless Tomb” and “The Door That Must Not Be Opened.”

Best for: readers who love a mystery with many layers.

    2. Bloodline of the Gu King

    Genre: Occult, Contemporary

Lu Sining spent eighteen years in the Hundred Thousand Mountains as the only disciple of a hidden gu master. When the wealthy Lu family of Hailing brings her home, on her very first night she finds a blood puppet under her adoptive sister’s bed, slowly draining her life force. It is only the beginning of a chain of dark sorcery aimed at the whole family.

Following the three-eyed snake of the Black Gu Sect, Sining edges closer to the secret of the night the mountain burned, and to the Gu King bloodline in her own veins. The story moves from household hexes (a mirror, a painting, a bell that rings at nine) to huge battles like the City of the Netherworld and the Mountain of Ten Thousand Gu.

Best for: readers who love the occult, gu sorcery, a strong heroine, and a finished story you can binge in one go.

    3. Daylily in the Snow

    Genre: Historical, Palace Intrigue

This is the story of Shen Ruoxuan, the daughter of a courtesan, who rises from the cold Lanshuang Palace all the way to the phoenix throne. Carrying the blood debt of her mother, the most despised woman in the palace ends up making the whole realm call her Empress.

Every chapter is a clear step up the ladder of power: a poisoned bowl of bird’s nest soup, a night in the emperor’s chamber, a royal pregnancy, the Prince of Jin’s coup, the regency, and finally the great war on the northern frontier. The pace is fast, and the heroine is coolly calculating, not the type who quietly endures.

Best for: fans of palace intrigue, harem schemes, and an ending where the heroine takes the throne.
